The digital world offers enormous opportunities – but also harbors risks, especially for young people. This makes it all the more important to accompany children and young people not only technically, but above all media-competently, self-confidently and responsibly on their way through everyday digital life. It is precisely out of this conviction that SECUINFRA GmbH is involved as a partner of the Digital Heroes gGmbH.
The Digital Heroes pursue an effective media education concept with a sustainable approach: as part of their media education program, pupils in years 8 to 10 are trained as mentors. They take on responsibility and actively support younger classes in navigating the internet safely and respectfully – on an equal footing and with a deep understanding of the reality of life for their peers.
The trained mentors independently organize class visits, take part in parents’ evenings and provide advice on key digital safety issues. Topics include the conscious handling of personal data, a reflective approach to social networks, raising awareness of disinformation and the prevention of cyberbullying .
Cyberbullying in particular is one of the biggest challenges in the digital space. It can hurt, ostracize and have a lasting negative impact on young people. Together with the Digital Heroes, SECUINFRA is committed to empowering young people to recognize cyberbullying at an early stage, take a clear stance and not leave those affected alone. The aim is to strengthen civil courage and establish a culture of looking instead of looking away.
A central component of SECUINFRA’s commitment is school sponsorships, through which the Digital Heroes program can be offered to schools free of charge. In this way, SECUINFRA makes a concrete contribution to equal opportunities media education and supports schools in teaching young people essential skills for critical, safe and responsible behavior in the digital space.
Florian Borns, founder of Digitale Helden gGmbH, also emphasizes the importance of this support:
Thanks to SECUINFRA’s support in the form of school sponsorships, the project can continue to be offered to schools free of charge. The company is thus making an important contribution to media education.
SECUINFRA’s partnership with the Digital Heroes deliberately goes beyond traditional cyber defense. The commitment stands for active responsibility, sustainable prevention and the clear conviction that digital security begins with education – and with the people who shape our digital future.
