Managed service providers (MSPs) not only provide and manage certain IT services for their customers, they are also responsible for cyber security. However, they are finding it increasingly difficult to keep pace with the growing threats. According to the MSP Benchmark Report 2024, more than three quarters of respondents see cyber security as one of the biggest IT challenges.
According to the MSP Perspectives 2024 Report, the MSPs surveyed consider the shortage of skilled workers to be the greatest strategic risk for themselves and their customers, in addition to the complex threat situation. The situation is exacerbated by the need for 24/7 coverage. According to another study, over 90 percent of all ransomware attacks occur outside of business hours.
In order to manage this complex task in a resource-efficient manner, 81 percent of the MSPs surveyed offer a Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service that guarantees permanent coverage. 66 percent use third-party providers such as SECUINFRA. A further 15 percent map the MDR service together with their own SOC and a third-party provider.
“MSPs must ensure that their customers are protected around the clock against the increasing threat of cyber attacks,” comments David Bischoff, Principal Cyber Defense Consultant at Berlin-based cyber defense specialist SECUINFRA. “With the external support of an experienced MDR partner, they are able to improve not only their service offering but also their profitability.”
SECUINFRA supports MSPs and companies of all sizes with needs-based MDR service models through to co-managed MDR for companies that have already purchased cyber defense products and require support for 24/7 operations.
