Our first company meeting of the year took place… at home

The novel coronavirus has forced us to find novel ways of meeting. We were all looking forward to seeing each other again at our first company meeting of the year on March 20, 2020. It had been on the calendar for ages and we’d found a great location in the heart of the capital city.

Unfortunately, what we didn’t know when we scheduled the meeting was that a totally new virus would come to visit at the end of the winter. Social distancing! It means that, until further notice, we need to avoid social contact as much as possible in order to slow the spread of the virus.
We were well prepared for this. Some of the colleagues usually work remotely anyway. All of our employees have been in the home office for a few days now. Our meeting moved offsite and online.
Regular discussions with each other are particularly important in our industry, as we don’t see each other every day. What’s new with management? What are this year’s marketing and sales targets? And what’s the latest in the specialist areas? We can still discuss all of these things in an online meeting. We’ll catch up on social contact once the virus has run its course and life gets back to normal for us.
We’d therefore like to send our best wishes to our employees, customers and partners. We hope you’re staying healthy. And be thankful for the technological advances of the 21st century – social distancing would be a lot worse without them!
