Students present their projects at SECUINFRA

Exciting projects were presented by the students of the “Cooperative Study Program IT Security (KITS)” at SECUINFRA on Tuesday. The budding security experts showed what they are currently developing at the participating cooperation companies of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. Studying and gaining practical experience at the same time is the motto of the dual study program there. SECUINFRA has been one of the partner companies for many years, and was once again able to welcome new students in their first practical phase. Like the theoretical phases at the university, these phases in a company are designed to last an entire semester and are each accompanied by a status meeting in which the current status of the students’ projects is reported.

On Tuesday, the time had come again: in addition to the students, their supervisors and lecturer Nils Rogmann came together at SECUINFRA’s premises in Frankfurt. Numerous exciting projects were presented, such as the conceptual design of a honeypot system, pentesting and securing Microsoft’s Active Directory. Other projects included the migration to Azure Active Directory, the deployment of Bitlocker and the detection and analysis of vulnerabilities. All participants were very impressed by the quality of the projects presented. Semiramis Savas, HR Manager at SECUINFRA, emphasized: “The long-standing cooperation between the university and the company is bearing fruit here.” The HR expert is convinced that all sides benefit from the dual concept in the IT security degree program: “At SECUINFRA, students gain valuable insights into the practice of one of the leading cyber defence companies. This is an excellent complement to the theoretical content of the course. We are also always happy to get to know prospective cybersecurity specialists and accompany them on their way.”
