On May 25 and 26, 2025, it was that time again: BSides Vancouver opened its doors to security professionals, researchers and community members from all over the world.
One of the highlights of this year’s event was undoubtedly the presentation by Olivia Gallucci, Senior Security Researcher at SECUINFRA. Her technical introduction to the internal structures of macOS, based on the analysis of Apple’s open source components – with the aim of creating a better understanding of system behavior and potential points of attack – was met with enormous interest: The lecture room was filled to capacity – a clear sign that Olivia’s expertise is highly valued in the community. Following her talk, she answered questions from participants. The intensive exchange not only highlighted the great interest in the topics presented, but also the high status that SECUINFRA enjoys within the international security community.
A particularly meaningful moment was the meeting with Mat X, the organizer of the renowned MacDevOpsYVR conference and the associated podcast. Mat attended Olivia’s session in person – and was thrilled. As a regular listener to his podcast, this feedback was not only a professional success for Olivia, but also a personal affirmation. It also underlines the potential for future collaboration – especially with regard to the rapidly growing macOS security community.
For SECUINFRA, BSides Vancouver 2025 was both a stage, a networking platform and a source of inspiration. The combination of technical depth, lively community exchange and valuable new contacts makes it clear that SECUINFRA is not only a technical leader, but also a committed part of an international security movement that shares knowledge, tackles challenges together and makes the digital world more secure, bit by bit.
With a strengthened network, fresh ideas and plenty of inspiration in their luggage, the team is already looking forward to upcoming events – and perhaps soon to their first appearance at MacDevOpsYVR.
