Dual study program at SECUINFRA

“Let’s build the cyber nation Germany together.” This was the call made by Claudia Plattner, President of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), at the opening of the IT security trade fair it-sa in Nuremberg last fall. According to Plattner, it is important to defy the shortage of skilled workers and build up technological expertise in Germany. One way to get there is a dual study program, such as the one offered by Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences with its “IT Security” course. SECUINFRA is a cooperation partner and gives young IT professionals the opportunity to study and at the same time gain initial experience in an exciting job.

Sebastian William and Leon Behnke, two students at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, are currently working on various projects, giving them valuable insights into a leading company in the field of cyber defense alongside their studies. They are supervised by Simon Hanke, Cyber Defense Consultant and former student himself. Hanke knows how important experience is in day-to-day work alongside theory: “When responding to security incidents, it is important to take the appropriate countermeasures quickly. This is not something you learn at university, but is best learned in a security operations team in collaboration with experienced analysts.” Semiramis Savas, HR Manager at SECUINFRA, shares this view and emphasizes the advantages of a dual study program: “Our long-standing collaboration with Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences pays off for all sides. Students are given the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience from proven security experts alongside their theoretical knowledge. And as a company, we are delighted to support prospective cybersecurity specialists in their first career steps.”
