Market overview: external security service providers

Many companies do not have the resources to operate a Security Operations Center (SOC) themselves. This is hardly surprising, as it needs to be staffed around the clock by experienced specialists in order to quickly detect and fend off attacks. The market for external security services has therefore grown considerably in recent years. However, the offerings are sometimes very different – both in terms of pricing and technology – and not every service provider has the relevant expertise. The trade magazine for professional information technology iX has therefore taken on the commendable task of shedding light on this often opaque offering for companies seeking advice. To this end, 100 providers of MDR (Managed Detection and Response) and SOC services were surveyed and a large market overview was compiled (fee-based article at heise+).

The various operating models are broken down in a detailed overview and the services offered as well as the systems supported are compared. For example, customers can see whether the provider is certified, what support it offers (genuine 24/7 service or on-call service only) and whether a German-speaking analyst is guaranteed. The supported EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) and SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation and Response) systems are also listed in detail. You can also find out whether the services can be operated on your own platform, on premise or in the cloud.

Ramon Weil, Founder and CEO of SECUINFRA, recommends reading it to any company that is thinking about using an external SOC service provider : “The market overview makes it easy to compare services. You can also quickly see which offers are suitable for your own company and which are not.” Weil is particularly pleased that SECUINFRA is one of the 30 service providers selected by the editorial team from the 100 surveyed and presented in detail: “We have been on the market since 2014 with our ISO 27001-certified SOC services and offer a genuine 24/7 service with German-speaking cyber defense experts. With our 3 different approaches, we offer the right MDR service for every company.”
