SECUINFRA presents challenge cup for the fastest eight!
On the weekend of May 14 and 15, the Rüdersdorf Spring Regatta took place on the Kalksee. This year, after a 2-year Corona break, for the 68th time!
Since 2014 SECUINFRA is one of the main sponsors of the club. It all started with the Bundesliga eight of the Rüdersdorfer Ruderverein Kalkberge e.V. The boat quickly worked its way up to the 1st Rowing Bundesliga and was the only village club to row successfully in the league. Since 2019, we have also been supporting the children’s and youth section of the club. This is where the foundation is laid for training in the boat.
This year, we took the spring regatta as an opportunity to sponsor a challenge cup for a special race. The so-called “night eight” is traditionally the last race on Saturday evening. The start for the 350 meter sprint distance is at dusk, around 8:30 pm. This year 4 eights found each other and rowed head to head to the finish. After evaluation of the finish photo it was clear: The challenge cup goes to the eight of the Wurzener Rudervereinigung Schwarz-Gelb. The cup was presented by Thomas Bode, Marketing Manager at SECUINFRA.
Congratulations to the winning boat!
The boats of the racing group Richtershorner RV Berlin / SC Berlin-Köpenick (2nd place), the local eight Rgm. Rüdersdorfer RV Kalkberge / Dresdner RV / SC Magdeburg (3rd place) and the boat of the Treptower Rudergemeinschaft Berlin (4th place) came in a close second.
And – as it should be after a successful eight race, the coxswain was also allowed to go swimming under great cheers of the spectators by the support of his team.
Christian Hintze, regatta manager at the Rüdersdorfer Rowing Club, was satisfied with the sporting weekend. After all, 655 athletes from 66 clubs were at the start in 200 races. “It is always an organizational masterstroke that we all do on a voluntary basis. I am proud that it works so well,” said Hintze with satisfaction.
We are already curious to see who will be able to take home the challenge cup next year. In any case, the winning boat from Wurzen is set for 2023.
