What’s left after swapping the workplace for Bergpark, team challenges, and new perspectives for four days? One thing above all: plenty of energy, shared memories, and the satisfying feeling of having grown even closer as a team.
From August 27 to 30, this year’s SECUINFRA summer event took us to Kassel-Bad Wilhelmshöhe. Right next to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, we enjoyed a mix of professional exchanges, inspiration, physical activity, and—above all—plenty of time together with our families and companions.
It didn’t take long for a highlight to emerge: Joey Kelly was our surprise guest. His talk , “NO LIMITS – How Do I Achieve My Goal,” focused on perseverance, discipline, willpower, and consistently pursuing ambitious goals. This message aligns remarkably well with our daily work in cyber defense: taking on challenges, pushing boundaries, and staying the course even when things get tough.
But a SECUINFRA summer event wouldn’t be a summer event without genuine team spirit. During a pub crawl through the Bergpark, a team competition, tennis, and evenings spent together, it quickly became clear: teamwork works exceptionally well for us even outside of SOC, Incident Response, and Cyber Defense. And sometimes the best conversations don’t happen in meetings, but on the go, at a beer garden, or over a BBQ together.
Of course, there was no shortage of professional exchange either. Our meeting day brought together different areas and perspectives from SECUINFRA and created space for new ideas, knowledge sharing, and a look ahead to what lies ahead.
In the end, however, it was less the individual program items and more the mix of people, conversations, and shared experiences that made these four days so special.
We’re taking home lots of memories, a fresh burst of energy, and even more team spirit. Kassel was amazing, and it definitely has us looking forward to the next SECUINFRA team event.
